Last night was a BIG night for music lovers in O-Town as the Enrique Iglesias & Pitbull Live concert hit the Amway Center stage after a Hurricane Irma postponement.
Walking to the venue, I saw familiar faces and felt the excitement of the night, almost forgetting it was a Tuesday. Many said, “Yeah, it’s Tuesday, but it’s also Enrique and Pitbull,” to which I agreed.
Kicking off the event, Mexican-American artist Becky G gave a good show. She sang her current popular song about liking older men, “Mayores,” and even bounced to “Mi Gente.” And that is when the crowd started to get excited. Leave it to a REALLY well known beat to get the crowd going.
Then it was time. My HUSBAND Enrique Iglesias (in my dreams at least) kicked off the show in a moonwalk style platform with his hit “Subeme La Radio.” The chicas went crazy of course. You could hear the crowd shouting and singing along over the band who really helped get the crowd going.
Kike, as us hardcore fans call him, continued with hits such as “I’m a Freak” and “I Like How It Feels” while giving us a throwback feel to the rhythm of “We Will Rock You.” At some point, the laser lights went away and Iglesias gave us romance, singing in both Spanish and English.
His voice was a little off at times, and the crowd helped him sing most of his songs, but I will say he spent lots of time with the fans, taking selfies and choosing a woman from the crowd to slow dance with him as he sang one of his ballads. He even offered her a drink. He mentioned Puerto Rico and thanked Orlando for everything.
Not gonna lie…I was a little jealous of her! All of this took place on a smaller stage on the other side of the arena, much closer to the crowd. It was nice!
The Iglesias fiesta ended in confetti and balloons falling from the ceiling and the song “I Like It,” one that I expected Pitbull to join him on…but NADA. Insert sad face emoji here!
Then came the intermission with DJ Laz which lasted over 45 minutes.
The crowd was definitely anxious to see Mr. Worldwide when out of nowhere the DJ mentioned a random guest on stage?!?! “Ladies and gentlemen, John Travolta,” he announced.
Wait, John Travolta?!! Okaaaay…I guess it makes sense since he owns property near Ocala…but John Travolta?!?
Nice, but where the heck is my Pitbull? We waited and waited and finally, with an 80s style throwback reminiscent of “Take On Me,” the band started playing and IT WAS TIME for “Feel This Moment” which kicked off his portion of the show.
No doubt Pitt’s music brings down the house. His EDM Latin infused beats will wake the dead and that’s exactly what he did with hits such as “Time Of Our Lives,” “FireBall,” and a mini-mix of his Miami classics that got him started such as “Shake,” “Toma,” and “Ay Chico.”
He was quite chatty, but that’s our Miami boy, using this platform to send a message and get us dancing. He dropped lines such as “simplicity is the key to success” and “the harder I work, the luckier I get” along the way. He also turned the P in Pitbull into politics, talking about how music sees no walls, no borders… it brings people together for a mutual good feeling, no matter where they’re from or what political beliefs they have.
Mr. Worldwide wrapped up the show with his 2013 hit “Timber” and it all went down! He spoke a few words right after thanking everyone for coming out, supporting his music, and closed by saying that he hopes to see everyone again when he’s back in O-Town.
Overall, the show was fun and Enrique and Pitbull sure know how to turn their concert into an unforgettable fiesta!
