I have a confession. I recently got caught lurking on a person’s Instagram.
I know, we all lurk. You start out by liking a picture on your Instagram feed, then you go to a person’s page, then you starting looking at pics, and before you know it, you’re a year into a person’s past life scrolling ever so lightly so you don’t accidentally like something and look like a creep!
The point of lurking is to look, and NOT get caught. As stated above, I failed, but it’s not entirely my fault.
Apparently there are apps out there that let people know who’s looking at their page!
Because of this, here are some ways to keep from getting caught lurking.
- Lurk On A Computer -It’s harder to track an IP address as oppose to an actual Instagram or Twitter that you’re logged in to via your phone. Make sure you’re not logged in to your page when you lurk, too!
- Snapchat Hack – Snapchat alerts users of who is watching their snaps and who screenshots their content. Well, if you’re lurking on SnapChat, and you want to share some content with a friend. Put your phone in airplane mode, and screenshot the pic. That way, they don’t get the notification.
- Just Don’t Do It – It’s hard, but just be real with yourself. If you want to like a picture that a person posted three months ago, just do it. Whatever happens, happens.
