Asking Siri About 108 Will Dial 911

CBS News reports Police departments across the United States are not happy with the latest viral social media campaign, which encourages iPhone users to say the number 108 to Siri. However, please do NOT try it “just for fun” as it is a code that calls up emergency services and delays others in a real emergency from getting in contact with emergency call centers.

The number 108 is actually the emergency services number in India.

According to CNET, Apple wanted to make it easier for people to contact emergency services from anywhere in the world, so telling Siri 108 will automatically connect you to the service where you are.
