The northeast is dealing with winter storm Stella, and here in Florida everything is great right? Wrong!

Sure the cool weather is welcomed here, and the sun is still shining, but what about the killer cobra that’s on the loose in Ocala? Yes, you read right, there’s a venomous two foot long suphan monocled cobra slithering around central Florida.

Here’s how everything happened. Brian Purdy has a license to have the snake, and apparently while in his apprentices’ care, the snake looked to not be in it’s enclosure.

After administering a number of tactics to try and get the snake to move, Purdy’s apprentice grabbed a shield and opened the cage. The snake then lounged at the apprentice and has been gone ever since.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the owner, Brian Purdy notified the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission of the snake’s disappearance at around 11 p.m. Monday night, and the FWC has remained outside of Purdy’s home just in case someone spots it.

One investigator said that it is possible that one of Purdy’s other pets, a venomous lizard, could have eaten the snake, but tests have not been able to confirm if that’s the case.

Cobras are one of the most deadly snakes in the world, and their venom is strong enough to stop a person’s breathing in just 30 minutes, so if you see the cobra, run the other way!
