With Lady Gaga already scheduled to debut her new single “ARTPOP” at this year’s Video Music Awards, MTV has revealed that controversy lightning rod Kanye West will also take the VMA stage at the award show ceremony later this month. He will perform his current single, “Black Skinhead” from the much-discussed new album Yeezus. West recently debuted the interactive video for the song after an earlier leak.
The appearance will mark the seventh time West has rocked the VMAs, tying Madonna for the most performances. This year’s awards ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 25 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center arena.
MTV announced West’s upcoming VMA appearance across their various outlets, including an Instagram photo loaded with croissants alongside a statement that reads “Don’t worry, ‘Ye, we got your damn croissants,” an obvious reference to the line from Yeezus track “I Am A God” (“In a French-ass restaurant/Hurry up with my damn croissants”).
