Tips To Keep This Fourth Of July Holiday Safe

With the Fourth of July holiday, fireworks are guaranteed to make a big bang once again in Central Florida. Our friends at Orange County Fire Rescue want to make sure that you are aware of the safety precautions that need to be taken if you are planning on having your own fireworks displays.

Each year, thousands of people will end up in the emergency room and thousands of fires will be started by people insisting on setting off their own fireworks. The main tip supplied by Orange County Fire Rescue is a simple one…leave the fireworks to the professionals! There are plenty of professionally run fireworks displays throughout the Central Florida area to keep everyone happy.

Orange County Fire Rescue reminds us that many of the consumer fireworks that are used every year are actually illegal under Florida law. According to Orange County Fire Rescue, “If it flies through the air or explodes it is not permitted.”

Additionally, remember that sparklers, which seem like a relatively harmless Fourth of July accessory, burn at over 12000 degrees Fahrenheit. They should be kept out of the hands of children at all times.

It’s also extremely important that children do not handle fireworks after the fireworks display. They may still be active.

Check out more fireworks precautions from the National Fire Protection Association.
