In this week’s Radio.com Rewind, songwriter and X-Factor vocal coach Claude Kelly gives his take on Justin Timberlake’s comeback record “Suite & Tie”; Shyne fires Twitter shots at president Barack Obama; and T.I. pulls trigger on the gun debate.

The biggest sound in music news this week surrounded Justin Timberlake’s midnight release of “Suit & Tie,” which features Jay-Z. While the chatter contained mixed reviews, the song quickly became the most downloaded song of the week.

In an open letter to the fans on his website, Timberlake opens with jokes before he gets serious and says, “Back in June of last year, I quietly started working on what is now, my next journey with that thing I love called MUSIC.”

While Timberlake was all dressed up for his return, former Diddy protégé Shyne went gone on a Twitter tear against the president. The Belize-born rapper has been calling out President Barack Obama for not doing more to curb the murder rate in the president’s hometown of Chicago.

“If @barackobama doesn’t do something about the genocide in Chicago fast,” he tweeted Monday (January 14), “I’m gonna have a @kanyewest melt down & say Barack Don’t care about?”

T.I.’s latest album Trouble Man shot the rapper back into the spotlight. Though he had been famously busted for buying illegal weapons, he recently offered his take on the latest gun debate just in time for Vice President Joe Biden’s assessment.

“I think there should be some adjustments made to the criteria that must be made in order for you to be allowed to have [a gun],” T.I. explained to DJ Buck & Nancy Barrow of Hartford’s 97.3. “The complete overall ban of firearms [is] a bad idea simply because if you do that, then you say the only people who are going to have guns, are the ones willing to break the law to keep them. That means you are putting the guns in the hands of only the criminals.”

Check out next week’s Rewind for a complete recap of the biggest news in urban music.
