With Cruel Summer, Kanye West is on a hot streak. His G.O.O.D. Music compilation album debuted at No. 2 on the sales charts this week.

The controversial rap visionary is basking in the glow of a platinum Watch the Throne album; the top 10 grossing tour with Jay-Z; and 17 nominations at the upcoming BET Hip-Hop Awards.

The star-studded compilation, which features Pusha T, R. Kelly, 2 Chainz, Big Sean and others, sold 216,000 copies, despite being unavailable on iTunes on the first day of its release.

Released in the same week news dropped of a Kanye sex tape, and propelled by the hit single “Mercy,” Cruel Summer is West’s seventh consecutive top 10 album. Keeping West out of the top spot is powerhouse pop vocalist Pink whose The Truth About Love debuts at No. 1 with 281,000 in sales, according to HitsDailyDouble. It’s the veteran singer’s first chart-topper edging out her 2008 album Funhouse, which reached No. 2.

Rounding out the top three is bombastic rock band The Killers’ Born Again pushing 115,000 albums. Other notable fresh chart entries include indie rock band Grizzly Bear (No. 7); country singer-songwriter Easton Corbin (No. 9); and Michael Jackson’s acclaimed 25th anniversary edition of his classic 1987 Bad album (No. 10).

The deluxe three-disc version of the Jackson release also features unreleased songs, remixes by electro dance favorites Afrojack and Nero and a concert DVD of the King of Pop’s iconic 1988 Wembley stadium show.—Keith Murphy, CBS Local
