[photogallerylink id=60939 align=left]Along with the rest of the 102 JAMZ team and Orlando, I was more than ready for the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cole World Tour[/lastfm] concert originally scheduled for September 10th, at The Beacham.

The show was sold out almost immediately but news of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]J. Cole[/lastfm]’s ankle injury hit The City Beautiful only a few days before the event. First no All Star Weekend 2012, now no Cole?

But like the saying goes, “The last shall be first and the first shall be last”, it turns out that we were “the lucky ones”, said [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]DJ Dummy[/lastfm], (Cole’s DeeJay), during his BLAZING hot opening set, moments before the show. Clearing up false rumors about a broken ankle and confirming that J. Cole is definitely NOT getting dropped from the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Roc Nation[/lastfm] label, DJ Dummy set it off with the announcement that due to the reschedule, Orlando actually ended up as the first stop on the Cole World Tour since the September 27th album release…

..and what a show it was!

Upon hitting the stage, Orlando received J. Cole with an explosion of energy, love and several thousand ‘diamonds in the air’ as well. It felt like he set off a bomb. A seasoned entertainment professional, I admittedly lost my mind a lil’ bit with everyone else.  He set Beacham on absolute FIRE!  …and he knew it.

“Orlando, this has been the hottest show on the Cole World Tour so far!” said Cole toward the end of the show, quickly seconded by his band and DJ at the mention. One of the hottest shows to hit Orlando in quite some time and definitely one of the best performances I’ve ever seen, Cole seemed to really feel the love O-town had waited to show him, and he returned it in abundance.

Giving a stellar performance and sharing the story of his journey, Cole ended the show with a heart-felt performance of Farewell”, off his Friday Night Lights Mixtape. I’ve honestly never seen an artist connect so well with an audience like that. Cole spent almost ten minutes in this performance, giving special “farewells” to individuals according to their shirt color, or sign or their hair color and sincerely thanking Orlando for such an amazing reception. He took his time, he did it right… Fellas, take note.

The show was actually Cole’s 2nd big reception of the day. At the official J. Cole “Tweet N Greet” hosted by 102 JAMZ hours before the show, J. Cole fans almost blew him out of the room with their exuberant greeting upon his arrival. Winners got the chance to meet him and get autographs and pictures at the JAMZ station. According to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]DJ Nasty[/lastfm] who introduced Cole to the group, it was a “Movie Yo!”. Little did Nasty know what a “movie” had already been made on the 102 JAMZ Twitter when the Tweet N Greet contest started. Fans retweeted like crazy and filled up all winning spots within the first few hours. I guess one could say Cole ran O-Town, even though he ain’t from here.

If you get the chance to catch the Cole World Tour, do it! All I know is Orlando’s performance was so hot, even the weather cooled down the next day.
