Jay-Z And Timbaland Being Sued For Big Hit “Big Pimpin” To The Tune Of $5M

The big hit “Big Pimpin” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay-Z[/lastfm] and produced by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Timbaland[/lastfm] has landed them in a lawsuit for $5 Million fo runpaid royalties. The man suing them says they sampled his song from the 1950’s.

According to Hiphopwired.com:

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ahab Joseph Nafal[/lastfm] filed a $5,000,000 lawsuit for not receiving the proper royalties for his song being sampled.

The lawsuit revolves around the use of the song “Khosara, Khosara,” which Timbaland sampled in Jay-Z’s 2000 hit single “Big Pimpin’.”

Lawyers argued that “Khosara, “Khosara” was created in 1957 and was governed by the 1909 Copyright Act and not the 1976 Copyright Act.

This happens to be Nafal’s second time trying to sue the duo over this same song. The first case was reported dismissed because Nadal failed to join all individuals with rights to the composition in the lawsuit back in 2007.
