Casey Anthony Sentenced To Four Years For Lying To Police

[photogallerylink id=52071 align=left]This morning, the Casey Anthony trial finally came to an end as Casey Anthony was sentenced by Honorable Judge Belvin Perry to four years in jail for lying to police.  But the sentencing wasn’t a quick process as her defense team tried to lump her four separate convictions on giving false statements to law enforcement officers into one single charge. Since all charges came out of the same conversation, defense argued that it would be violating double jeopardy if the charges were separated.

Understandably, the prosecution wasn’t having any of this, claiming that each of the lies resulted in different actions and should be considered for their individual consequences.

Judge Perry saw them as four separate and distinct lies which made law enforcement use a lot of manpower in the search for Caylee Marie Anthony, sentencing her to 1 year in jail and a $1,000 fine on each count, with all four counts to run consecutive to each other, giving her credit for time she had previously served.
